What are the Best campsites to Visit near to the Elwha River

We try to give you a good choice of campsites for every budget close to and in the national park and Elwha river so that everybody is catered for.  The Elwha Valley has two campgrounds, there is the well known Elwha campground with it’s 30 sites that are open all the way through the year and then there is the Altair campground with now more than 40 sites (open during summer) There is also plenty of lodging which can be found in the lovely Port Angeles or within the park at Lake Crescent.

Altair Campground

Closed Late May through October 25th.

Prices cheap only $12 -    $30

Facilities: Running water in wooded area along Elwha River; some riverside sites; 21′ recommended RV length (some for up to 35′)

Deer Park Campsite    

Closed Mid June through mid fall.

Prices very cheap $10-$14

Facilities: Pit toilets, no water

Tents only. Near treeline, but among groves of subalpine firs; elevation 5,400′. Access road is winding, gravel,  not suitable for RVs or trailers.

The Elwha Dam RV Park is a very good choice for a campsite
